materials.cologne offers detailed insights into design, materials and innovation. This year’s thematic focus is material and sustainability. The conference offers a platform for the interactive and creative exchange of designers, architects, interior designers and other future-oriented professions.

On Tuesday, 04 May, the digital conference will start with numerous expert contributions by experts on the topic of materials and sustainability, divided into three thematic blocks divided into three thematic blocks:

 

1_Current state of knowledge: In the first thematic block, visitors to interzum@home will gain insights into the latest knowledge from research and science on sustainable design and material development, as well as practical methods of sustainability assessment.

 

2_Best practice from design and craftsmanship: In the second thematic block, the speakers will report on project descriptions and findings on how sustainable design can succeed, with special consideration of sustainable material development. The focus will be on product design, furniture design, textile design and crafts.

 

3_Best practice in architecture and interior design: In the third thematic block, designers report on how sustainable principles can be implemented in concrete terms in building and interior design. In the work reports, visitors will learn more about the challenges and solutions in sustainable architecture.

 

Master Classes – experience more, learn more, be in live dialogue

On Wednesday 5 and Thursday 6 May 2021, materials.cologne will offer digital Master Classes for more in-depth coverage of the topics, further training and to get to know the speakers in person and digitally. These will be offered for two hours each via the continuing education platform (Zoom format) and are subject to a fee. The speakers at materials.cologne will act as live tutors to go into greater depth on their respective topics, present concrete tools and work on these interactively with the participants using practical tasks. The tools will be made available to the participants afterwards.

materials.cologne- the Digital Conference for Design and Innovation takes place in cooperation with the KölnBusiness Wirtschaftsförderungs-GmbH and the interzum@home. Numerous trade associations and trade media will be partners of the conference.

So we discussed a stunning art collector’s private house interior design project which was designed and implemented by Cologne-based architect and colour designer Julia Hausmann.
